Mission

Encourage and motivate students to participate more in cultural events and form a team of potential and equally interested students and to develop a taste of western music among students covering various genres such as metal, rock, rock and roll, blues, R&B, pop music and many more..

Participate in AKTU’s cultural fest and represent the college with pride, showcasing our talent and hard work.
Participate in IIT Roorkee’s cultural fest Thomso.
Participate in Manifest-Varchasva (IIM Lucknow’s cultural fest).
Participate in Maruti Suzuki’s Colors of Youth which is a national level TV reality show.
Participate in Encore 2022 and various college level fest.
Encourage more original compositions and record them in professional sound studios.
Participate in IIT Mandi’s cultural fest.

About Auroras

Founded in 2015, the club introduced this subtle genre of music in the college which had been missing, unlike other Institutes. As part of the Western Music Club, the campus’ most musically talented residents come under one roof to cover everything from Pink Floyd to Coldplay and Metallica to Linkin Park. It facilitates regular practice sessions throughout the year for several competitions like Maruti Suzuki’s Colors of youth, Indian Idol and cultural fests of various colleges. The competitive academic environment and co-curricular activities on campus keep the students on their toes. But everyone needs some time off to relax and recharge. Frequent jamming sessions help the members develop a taste in different flavors of music and enhance their skills on the instrument. Members of the club play various musical instruments such as guitar, drums, Cajon box, ukulele, bass guitar, and synthesizer.

Activities and Achievements

Since the team was formed it has won numerous prizes and outperformed in various music competitions. It has represented the college in various competitions from college fests like Thomso, Antaragini to reality Tv shows such as Indian Idol and Maruti Suzuki’s Color of Youth. We also have been regularly active at various social media platforms and encouraged to entertain audience with our talent, our Instagram handle @iet_auroras show casts best of our member’s performances. We have always strived hard to encourage students to participate more in such competitions because we believe “Participation is always more important than winning” Some of our most recent achievements are:

The Rock band ‘NEMESIS’ was the 1st runner up at Pravah18’s zonal held at SMS college.
The Rock band ‘NEMESIS’ came 2nd in BAND WARS at BBD’s cultural fest 2019.
- THE Rock band ‘NEMESIS’ won the 1st prize at ENCORE 2016.
The Rock band ‘NEMESIS’ came 2nd in BAND WARS at Maharana Pratap Engineering College, Kanpur Cultural fest 2020.
- 1st Runner ups at IIM’s Manifest-Varchasva’17 in group singing.
- Stood 3rd in solo singing at IIM Lucknow’s Manifest Varchasva’17.
- Jyoti Singh won 1st prize in solo singing at Thomso ‘16.
- Jyoti Singh qualified for the final round of Maruti Suzuki’s Color Youth 2018 which is a reality TV show.
Rajat Agarwal and Anwarat Srivastava bagged 2nd Runner up in Euphony, Thomso’ 19.

Future Plans

The Auroras is dedicated to improve, refine and develop the music skill among the students of IET LUCKNOW. It provides an opportunity for music aspirants by conducting and organizing various events. It encourages the students to participate and compete at various platforms. The primary objective of the club is to explore new talents and impart the qualities to the students. It also includes conduction and organization of such events that create an atmosphere of fun and excitement to the student members. Events such as Expressivo, Battle of the Bands, Grazioso and a lot of exciting and enthralling activities which not only boost the confidence but also help in ensuring the mastery in forte. This club strives to promote all student participation in the contribution and enjoyment of their musical abilities/talents and to provide an opportunity for them to showcase their talent.

Membership

Music is to the soul what words are to the mind. We all love music and it keeps the positive vibe alive in our lives. With that being said, we would invite the audience to be a part of The Western Music Club of IET, The Auroras.

The Auroras present “Expressivo” as the platform for the people who want to be a part of our team. The Expressivo is an open mic competition for campus students who are interested in joining the club. The competition is held annually, at allotted time and venue by college authorities. The regular time rules for auditions are:

In order to be considered as a deserving candidate for the western music team, one needs to be at least be an amateur in at least one of the following-
- Any western music instrument like Guitar, Drum, Congo,etc.
- Some vocal skill with in any type of Western Singing such as Rock, Metal, Blues, Rap, RnB, Country music, Screaming, Growling, Beat Boxing, etc. [All Genres are Welcome]
- There will be only one round. You need to showcase your skill within 10 minutes of allotted time.
- Judging will be done on the basis of your skills.
One need to bring their own instruments for performance. Only drum set will be provided.
