Campaign Material

In previous elections, we’ve shared candidates’ election ‘pitch’ with all the alumni base. This was done via email and through our posts on the most active FB group and LinkedIn etc. A video and a poster for each contestant was released. Video is a way better communication tool than a written essay.

Kindly provide the following as soon as possible so that we can start making announcements and share your video/posters with the larger alumni community.

  1. Upload a picture to be used for campaign material

Please provide a decent picture of yours that we’ll use in the campaign and as your profile picture on IETHub. The picture needs to be uploaded at:
https://iethub.org/edit-profile

While wearing formals is encouraged, it is not necessary. A simple frontal picture in front of a wall will be sufficient. Examples of acceptable pictures of our own IETians are:

Also, please fill in the other details of your profile page. Eg. your designation, your location, linkedin profile and facebook profile URL etc. It makes it easier for everyone to find information about you on IETHub and the Yap app.

  1. Poster

Please provide a single page poster that we can attach to your description. While candidates are free to design whatever they like, here are a few guidelines:

  • Less is better
    • Most people will probably view it on their phone. Too much and too dense text will be difficult to read
  • Highlight broad agendas/manifesto
  • Optionally direct them to your video for a longer message
  • Consider attaching a picture of yourself. You can use the picture that we have on record from https://iethub.org/edit-profile.
  1. Video

Kindly prepare a 2 minute video divided into following sections:

  • Your introduction (Batch, year, current work profile, current location etc.) - ~30 seconds
  • Your past contributions to IET if any (both in college and after becoming alumni) - ~30 seconds
  • If elected, what initiatives you’ll take for the betterment of the alumni and student community - ~45 seconds
  • Closing appeal to vote for you ~15 seconds.

There is no need to spend time telling the election schedule and voting dates. These will be amply communicated to alumni. We believe most people will see this video at the time of voting. Telling them voting dates is immaterial at that point.

It should not be over 2 minutes and it should be shot in landscape mode. For guidelines on a good production, please refer to this video:Welcome message by the President, IET Alumni Association to the 2020 Entry batch of IET.

Kindly upload this video to youtube and put all this campaigning materials (poster/pitch/manifesto/video link) in a discourse topic and share that. Admins will publish this link to all IETians on all social media and Lifetime Member Groups…
